Caramel Oak Medium Dog Flap – PetSafe Staywell 740

The Anthracite Grey Medium Dog Flap is the modern colour option of the industry-leading PetSafe Staywell 740 — one of the best-selling dog doors on the market for decades. Finished in stylish anthracite grey and fitted with a rigid clear flap, this tried-and-tested pet door delivers excellent value, durability and everyday convenience.

Designed for large cats and medium to small dogs, this door includes a slide-in internal barrier that can be used to close the flap in high winds or on cold nights to reduce heat loss, or to keep pets from going outside when you prefer.

These doors are manufactured to order and therefore are not returnable.

Due to the spraying process and handling during preparation, minor marks or signs of handling may be visible. This does not affect the performance or usability of the door.

Colour accuracy: Colours may vary slightly due to screen settings, lighting conditions and the nature of sprayed finishes. The supplied anthracite grey finish is plain and will not be an exact match for foiled or factory-coloured anthracite doors or frames.

If an exact colour match to a foiled or factory-finished door is essential, we recommend considering this carefully before ordering.

What’s Included

These doors come with internal barriers (locks) as standard and a tunnel. The barrier helps you control your pet’s movements or close the door during very cold weather. The tunnel lines the cut-out to hide raw edges and improve safety.

Fitting Installation Notes

The tunnel sections are best glued. When cutting the panel, keep the hole no more than 2mm bigger than the correct cut-out size. This small gap is best filled with silicone to seal around the tunnel and help prevent draughts.

Tunnels are supplied to line doors up to 2 inches thick. These doors can also be fitted through walls or thicker panelling, but you will need to form your own tunnel lining (commonly using uPVC soffit board or rigid foam) for the extra depth.

Recommended materials: Stelmax contact glue on the tunnels and neutral-cure silicone between the door panel and the pet door tunnel.

Q. Do these fit a composite door?

R. Yes but there are a few things to watch for.

The mouldings on the composite can get in the way and there is an internal panel on the dog door that slides in from the top. So these two points need to be considered.

The installer should silicone seal the outer frame and, if possible, add an architrave or rigid angle to cover the composite where it is cut to ensure it stays watertight.

You should also consider using an extreme weather door instead but you’ll need to check the sizes.

Extreme weather doors have a u-value of 1.2 which is more in keeping with the design of the composite and they are more paint friendly.
